Installation guide
About ten minutes the first time. The app checks each step and will not continue until it is done.
Before you start
- A compatible Zontes bike and an Android 10+ phone.
- Android Auto and Google Play services installed.
1. Install ZynView
Download the APK from the download section and open it. Android will ask you to allow installing apps from the browser or file manager you used; allow it for that one app, then install. Only install the APK from this website or the official source repository.
2. Follow the in-app setup
On first launch ZynView walks you through these steps and only moves on when each one is done:
- Welcome. Read the safety and independence notice.
- Android Auto. It checks Android Auto and Google Play services are installed.
- Head unit mode. Open Android Auto’s settings, scroll to the bottom and tap “Version” ten times to unlock developer mode. Then tap the ⋮ menu (top right) and choose “Start head unit server”. Repeat this after you restart the phone. Some phones do not let ZynView see whether it is running; in that case you confirm it yourself.
- Permissions. Nearby devices, Bluetooth, Notifications and Camera (and Local network on Android 17). Each one shows why it is needed.
- Wi-Fi. Turn the phone’s Wi-Fi on.
- Pair the dash. Switch the bike on, put the dash on its screen-mirroring page and scan the QR code it shows. You can also pair later from the home screen.
3. Connect
On the home screen tap Connect to the dash. The status goes from joining the dash Wi-Fi to starting Android Auto and then shows it live on the dash. The first connection must be made from the dash’s screen-mirroring page.
If it does not connect, see troubleshooting.
